- When did you start blogging in earnest? Which blog platform did you use 1st?
- We started PRC Board Exam Results last September 2007. For the blogging platform, we chose Wordpress.
- Why do you blog? What/who gave you that 1st push?
- We blog about the PRC results for one purpose: To deliver an on-time, comprehensive, and accurate board exam results on the web. We were enticed to create this blog because many need to have an on-time results update, but only a few provide that service online. Other websites are not that updated, not easy to navigate, and not search-engine friendly. Our greatest advantage over the other websites that are also posting exam results is our free SMS Service. This provides convenience to our subscribers.
- Tell us about this featured blog. Purpose? Target audience?
- The purpose of this blog is to provide comprehensive and timely information: nursing board exam results, as well as results for ALL exams by the PRC. We are also thinking of including bar exam results in the near future. Our target audience are all the board exam takers in the Philippines. But we’ve also found out that family members and friends of examinees are also using our site.
- How many other blogs do you own?
- Between the two of us, we own 20+ blogs!
- What “offline” activities do you do to promote your blog(s)?
- We tell our friends, classmates, officemates, and relatives to visit our site and tell them to recommend it as well to those who want to see the results online, and need updated information regarding the PRC exam results. We also ask other bloggers to link to the site.
- What/who inspires you to keep on blogging? How come?
- Our subscribers inspire us to keep on blogging. From zero, we’ve jumped to 3,000+ RSS readers, and 2,000+ SMS Subscribers.
- Do you currently monetize your blog(s)? How?
- Yes, through Google Adsense, Text Link Ads, AdBrite, and formerly, Widgetbucks. But we’ve removed the last due to the fact that they only accept clicks and impressions from the US and Canada — the majority of our subscribers and visitors are from the Philippines.
- How much money do you usually spend for your blog(s) per month?
- Due to the enormity of our site’s traffic, we’ve had to transfer prcboardexamresults.com to a virtual private server, which costs us around US$50+ per month. That and the annual domain name fee. Plus, we spend for the transmission of board exam results announcements via text messaging to all our SMS subscribers.
- List other blogs that you read on a regular basis.
- We read lots of other blogs! Check out the list at The Usual Suspects, Davao Blogspace and Mindanao Bloggers.
- In about 10 words, convince our readers to subscribe to your blog!
- Be the first to know the latest exam results now!
