Mindanao Bloggers Community

After the Mindanao Bloggers Summit organizers met last 3 June 2007, there were important decisions that were arrived at. This is to provide all interested bloggers with ongoing updates.

As of our last meeting, we are targeting to host 150 participants. Hopefully we’ll get more than that! From Davao alone — judging from the number of bloggers who attended the Davao Bloggers Party #1 — we’re expecting around 50 participants. We hope that all cities/regions of Mindanao will be well-represented in the Summit.

Bloggers from outside Mindanao are also welcome, of course. What will make it a “Mindanao” event is the intended content focus of the Summit.

1. The theme. We haven’t formulated a statement yet for the Summit’s overarching theme, but the general idea is as follows: Promoting Mindanao to the world through blogging. “Promoting” does not necessarily mean sugar-coating anything; it simply means ‘letting the world know’ about Mindanao.
2. This site. MindanaoBloggers.com is being hosted by Davao Exchange, and maintained by yours truly. More contributors are welcome!
3. The date of the Summit is set on 27 October 2007 (Saturday). This is also the last day of the 6th Mindanao ICT Congress (22-27 Oct). The program schedule is still being threshed out.
4. The venue. Tentatively (but most likely), the Summit will be held at the NCCC Mall 4th floor. More details on this later.
5. After the Summit, we’ll have a party! We’ll have it at night in a different location. Watch out for updates on this.
6. The organizers.

   • Organizing team leader: Blogie Robillo
   • Members: Andrew dela Serna, Dennis Agulo, Dominique Cimafranca, Kim Castillo, Jun Macarambon, Marc Javellana, Migs Hipolito, and Ria Jose.
   • Northern Mindanao coordinator: Stephanie Caragos
7. Dominique is in charge of the Summit’s program. Andrew is tasked to take care of our speakers and special guests, among other things. Ria will handle F&B arrangements. Marc is logistics in-charge.
8. Participation in the Summit will be free to all bloggers. (Accommodation in Davao City for out-of-towners is being arranged as we blog.)
9. A blog contest and logo design contest will be run before the Summit. More on this in upcoming updates.
10. Sponsors. We will be posting a call for sponsorships as soon as the organizing team agrees on the sponsorship packages. A pledge form will be published here by then.
