Welcome to the online presence of Mindanao’s bloggers! This blog is an endeavor to provide a common ground for all bloggers in, from — and who blog about – Mindanao: an online community of the island’s various cultures, expressed through blogging.
In March 2007, Councilor Peter Laviña of Davao City expressed a desire to have a Mindanao-wide bloggers’ summit. And in May of the same year, during Techno Kapehan — a forum on the I.T. industry held monthly in Davao — the plans to organize this event was set in motion.
After the successful Davao Bloggers Party #1, its organizers felt confident that an event of larger scope and more serious content would be very feasible. We are Andrew, Marc, Ria, Dennis, Wyzemoro, Kim, Dom and myself (“the Usual Suspects”). For the Mindanao Bloggers Summit, we are joined by Migs, an adoptive Mindanaoan, and Honey of Cagayan de Oro. Hopefully, more bloggers from other parts of Mindanao will join the organizing group. (Interested? E-mail me: blogie [at] davaoblogs [dot] net. Please include your blog’s URL.)
MindanaoBloggers.com was conceived initially to be the promotions vehicle of the Mindanao Bloggers Summit, which will be held on 27 October 2007 in Davao City. However, in the near future, the site will hopefully be transformed into the homebase of all bloggers in Mindanao.
